Service Description
Beginners Group Swimming Lessons (ALN Focused – Up to 4 Swimmers) Our Beginners Group Swimming Lessons provide a supportive and structured introduction to swimming for ALN swimmers who are new to the water or still developing confidence. With a maximum of four swimmers per class, these sessions offer a calm, inclusive environment where each swimmer can learn at their own pace while benefiting from gentle social interaction. These lessons focus on building water confidence, safety awareness, and fundamental swimming skills through adapted teaching methods that recognise individual learning styles, sensory needs, and physical abilities. Activities are delivered progressively and with flexibility, ensuring swimmers feel safe, supported, and encouraged throughout. ALN Requirement These sessions are exclusively for swimmers with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or long-term conditions that affect how they access swimming lessons. This may include, but is not limited to: Autism ADHD Dyspraxia / DCD Hypermobility Vision or hearing loss Arthritis or other physical conditions Neurological or sensory processing differences The small group format is intended for swimmers who benefit from additional structure, reassurance, and individual attention, and who may find larger or faster-paced lesson environments overwhelming or unsuitable. Programme & Teaching Structure These sessions form part of a programme supporting the STA Award in Aquatic Teaching – Disability Swimming. Lessons may be delivered by teachers undertaking this qualification as part of their practical development and assessment. Qualified swimming teachers and course tutors will be present poolside at all times to ensure safety, provide oversight, and support both swimmers and trainee teachers as needed. As sessions may contribute toward teacher assessment, formal progression tracking and guaranteed outcomes cannot be assured. Booking Information To ensure the most appropriate group placement, all bookings must clearly outline the swimmer’s age, experience level, ALN or condition, and any specific support requirements. This allows us to create balanced groups and structure sessions effectively. If you are unsure whether this class is suitable for your swimmer, please contact us prior to booking — we are happy to discuss individual needs and offer guidance.
