Service Description

ALN / Neurodiverse / Disability Bulk Swimming Lesson Programme (Disability-Focused Provision – Any Ability) This bulk booking programme is designed exclusively for swimmers with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), neurodivergence, or physical / sensory disabilities. It forms part of our specialist disability swimming provision and supports the practical delivery of our disability-focused teacher training course. This is not a general swimming session. It is a dedicated, adaptive programme created for swimmers who require a more specialised, responsive and individualised teaching approach. Who This Programme Is For This service is suitable only for swimmers with diagnosed or long-term conditions that affect how they access learning in the water. This may include (but is not limited to): Autism ADHD Dyspraxia / DCD Sensory processing differences Learning disabilities Neurological conditions Hypermobility Vision or hearing impairment Physical disabilities or long-term medical conditions Swimmers of any ability level are welcome — from complete beginners with no prior water experience to more confident swimmers developing stroke technique or functional aquatic skills. Flexible Allocation Within Specialist Sessions Bulk bookings secure places within a disability-focused session block. Swimmers are then allocated to the most appropriate teaching format based on the information provided. Within each session, swimmers may be placed into: 1-to-2 lessons Small specialist group lessons Other appropriate adaptive learning groups Allocation is carefully considered according to: Age Ability level Water confidence Communication style Sensory profile Physical considerations Behavioural and emotional regulation needs This ensures each swimmer receives the level of support most suitable for their development, safety and comfort. Teaching Approach Lessons are delivered in a calm, structured and supportive environment, with emphasis on: Building water confidence safely Developing fundamental aquatic skills Stroke development and refinement Functional swimming and life skills Sensory-aware water experiences Working toward individual goals at an appropriate pace Progress is individualised. The aim is positive engagement, increased independence in the water, and development appropriate to each swimmer’s needs.
