Why RKLSwims Isn’t a Money Grab – It’s a Movement Making Waves in South and West Wales!

Let’s set the record straight! RKLSwims isn’t here to rinse your wallet. In fact, we’re not even allowed to. Why?

Because we’re a Community Interest Company (CIC) – that means every penny we make or raise goes right back into helping the community, not into someone's back pocket, we don’t just take the money and swim off into the sunset... 🏴‍☠️ We’re not pirates (though we do know how to float pretty well).

🤔 What Is a CIC, Anyway?

A CIC (Community Interest Company) is like a big-hearted cousin of a business, built to help people, not to profit. We exist solely to benefit our community, which in our case means offering affordable or free swimming lessons to families across South and West Wales.

Our mission? To make swimming accessible for every family, no matter their postcode or paycheck. 🏊‍♀️

Great question, let’s break it down like a belly flop at your uncle’s BBQ.

People sometimes think £5 per lesson should cover it, and wouldn’t that be lovely?

But behind every lesson is a whole crew working hard to keep things afloat:

🏊 Pool Hire: £100–£150 per hour (yep, per hour)
👩‍🏫 Swim Teachers: £15–£25 per hour (because we hire only the best, no doggy paddlers here)
🏅 Certificates & Badges: Around £5 each (kids love ‘em, and they earn them!)
🧾 Admin, Insurance & Booking Systems: Yep, those boring-but-essential behind-the-scenes bits
📣 Marketing: So families can actually find us!

That’s why £15 per swimmer per lesson is a lifeline, not a luxury. We’re not splashing out on gold-plated goggles, we promise.
